WALKING MEDITATION

WALKING

The concept of integration of Tai Tao Yoga extends and expands the human energy field. Inserting within the practice of movement and breathing are techniques to improve and automate the sensation of body fluidity. The Hatha Yoga sequences with fluid movements of Tai Chi, Chi Kung and Qigong, integrate with a series of principles that favor deep and natural breathing. The body opens to addresses the subtle energy centers which originate from movement.

Conscious walking meditation, a Tai Tao Yoga practice brings circularity, fluidity and harmony to movement, softening the edges, replicating fluid movement of the cosmic ocean and its subtle energies. During walking, the body moves homogeneously, involving each joint and avoiding that the weight is concentrated only on some, so as not to create excessive tensions isolated in one joint. Tai Tao Yoga sequences are fluid and respect the Yin and Yang principles found in inspiration, expansion, fullness, hot, solar energy and emptiness, recollection, performed in expiration, the essence of movement in a meditative walk focused on fluidity. The work is concentrated on fluency for extension, on liberation and opening of the path for Prana or Chi to flow.

Chinese masters of Qigong observed body movements searching the best way to stand and move for flexibility and mobility. The static or stationary exercises of Qigong serve the posture. The spinal column is aligned naturally so that the bones and supporting muscles form three natural curves to create balance and fluidity between vertebral bodies.

The walk, is based on the premise of preserving joint mobility for the spine and limbs to maintain youthfullness and long-term health. A practice of drawing a celestial cosmic energy from above through the gate pai hui in the crown of the head is attempted. Here at the top of the head 8 convergent meridians are found.

The earth's energy from below enters through the feet at a point called yongquan located in the central front part of the feet. After focusing on one's own standing structure, by noting the observation on the percentage of weight distribution between feet, preparatory exercises of breathing and opening are performed. From here the body and its posture through movements of rooting and centering align the head, eyes, tongue while relaxing mouth and shoulders and observing chest with abdominal movements. Further, in our meditation walk the attention and the concentration are transferred to the organs and bones: the looseness of the hips, the stability of the pelvis, the lightness of the legs will allow a constant movement to gradually enable posture to become natural and controlled.

In active breaks simple essential exercises of Tai Chi Qi Kung and Qi gong heating will be performed to spontaneously move in harmony with the Tao of Heaven and Earth. This is integrated to what has been observed and learned in moving meditation gradually bring their knowledge towards achieving higher levels of skill. In this walking meditation practice energy centers are opened with a gentle force through work on the joints and tendons.

In Tai Tao Yoga it is not practiced to develop muscle mass. Instead tendon and bone strengthening are honed. A minimum vascularization efficiently maintained until an advanced age is also done. In the Tao Yoga walk, as in Tai Chi, tendons are strengthened and developed and connective tissue is allowed to carry the bioelectric impulses that connect each cell of the body allowing the flow of inner life force through through every cavity and vital organs.

All forms of energy work require a solid ground connection. This known as rooting means connecting with the earth. Moving in an integral way is not purely mechanical skill. It is necessary to integrate body, mind, emotions and spirit in a unity with coordination, uniformity and harmony, in grace and beauty, as an eternal dance of opposites. Reaching this integrity is a process that takes place at various levels. The basic level is that of the body's energy circulation.

BENEFITS
Posture straightens, organs are oxygenated, muscles tone and the nervous system relaxes. The whole propioceptive system benefits considerably. Eye work is important as is intention while walking. Patience is improved a connection between moratorium and respiration, without stress and observing all the principles of yoga Yama and Niyama. Being content, not straining, not scratching the bottom, being humble, listening and studying oneself is part of the process towards meditation.
