MARRAKECH OUTDOORS

Home to stunning gardens, mosques, and historical palaces, Marrakech is a city of culture and a perfect location for all those seeking memorable Morocco yoga retreats. While staying in the city and taking in the many sights it has to offer, you might also need some outdoor activities. With this in mind, we’ve compiled a perfect list below!
SUNSET CAMEL RIDE
While on a relaxing trip to a beautiful city, what better way to forget about the stresses of the world than with a camel ride in the Moroccan sunset? Around the city, there are plenty of locals willing to take you outside the city to the Palmaraie. Not only will you enjoy the breath-taking views as the sky changes through a rainbow of colours, you can also learn about how the camel’s role in society has adjusted over the years.

MARRAKECH DESERT AND PALM GROVE QUAD BIKE WALLS
If a camel is a little too slow for your liking, you can really let loose on your yoga retreat in Marrakech with a quad bike experience. Whether you’re with family or friends, you’ll be creating memories together as you travel through traditional Berber villages and ancient volcanic landscapes.

BOTANICAL TOUR
Throughout the downtown area, there’s plenty of greenery to be seen including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Agdal Gardens and Majorelle Garden which was restored by none other than Yves Saint-Laurent. Why not be at one with nature on your Marrakech yoga retreat and visit these beautiful locations?

LES CAVALIERS DE L'ATLAS
Just a five-minute drive away from the city (to the north) sits Les Cavaliers de L’Atlas. For those who like to ride horses, this is the place for you because you’ll have access to a number of breeds including the Berber, Anglo-Arab, and even Shetland ponies. Regardless of the breed you choose, the goal is to ride into the Atlas Mountains and discover some of the most astonishing scenery you’re ever likely to see (while also getting some exercise!).

WILD WATER RAFTING MEDERSA
What if you like to be in the water? Well, we have the perfect solution for you in wild water rafting. If you’re not afraid to get wet, the Ahansel River is close enough to visit and their kayaking school could also offer an opportunity to learn a new skill (alongside yoga in Marrakech, of course).

ATLAS MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS
If you get a free day on your Marrakech yoga retreat, we highly recommend booking a day excursion to the picturesque Atlas Mountains. Not only can you immerse yourself into the Berber village lifestyle, many excursions come with a camel ride.

Once you reach the top of the mountains, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views and a moment to reflect; it’s the perfect outdoor activity to continue your yoga retreat in Marrakech. Although slightly out of the city, many organised trips will take you to and from the mountains. If you don’t want to see the mountains, perhaps a little sand boarding will get the heart racing?

MARRAKECH CITY WALLS
While some of the suggestions we’ve offered require a short trip, you could stay on foot and discover the 12th century city walls. Alternatively, a horse-pulled ‘caleche’ will gallop around the six miles of wall so you can take in the historic gates and towers. If you time it just right, you’ll even enjoy the pink glow as the sun sets and casts an exquisite glow.

SKIING
Considering we’ve been talking about the desert and sun for much of this outdoor activity guide, you might be surprised to see skiing. However, a couple of hours away is Oukaimeden which is a brilliant ski resort in the Atlas Mountains. With six ski lifts and heights of between 2,600 metres and 3,200 metres, skiing is a great way to let off some steam and complement your yoga retreat in Marrakech.

F5 MARRAKECH
Is there a more universal sport than football? It doesn’t matter that you’re enjoying yoga in Marrakech, on another continent entirely, you can still get the heart racing with Foot 5 Marrakech. Available for both kids and adults, the brand is quickly expanding and now includes F5 Streetball for all basketball fans too.

BIKE RIDING
When visiting Marrakech, riding a bike around the streets and sights is one of the best ways to really discover the city. Whether you want a light bike ride on a Sunday morning, a city tour, or a high-altitude road cycling camp, you have plenty of options in Marrakech. Get on two wheels and exercise the mind and body with a relaxing bike ride.

WAKY MARRAKECH
In Marrakech, you’ll have access to the very first cable park in Morocco. As well as wakeboarding, you can enjoy bi skis, knee-boarding, wakeskating, figures, and slalom. For groups of friends and families, this is a great way to get on the water and learn some new sports you may not have access to back home.
