Where Wellness Meets Compassion
When you think of a
Morocco yoga retreat, you may picture tranquil gardens, vibrant souks, and the sweeping stillness of the desert. But behind the scenes of our transformative retreats stands someone who embodies this spirit of healing—Miss
Ines Johanna Stephan. Known internationally as a yoga teacher and a pioneering film producer, Miss Stephan is also deeply committed to something most guests never expect: the welfare of Morocco’s most vulnerable animals.
Yoga in the Land of Light
Ines personal story and engagement to help the local anmal kingdom since 15 years brings another layer to the yoga retreats she teaches in Marrakech. Ines is a woman driven by compassion, love and respect for nature. She believes that all living creatures, by virtue of breath and growth, possesses a soul that must be safeguarded from harm, cruelty and abuse. Ines her personal credo is that every being carries a spark of the divine.
A Voice for the Voiceless
A Voice for the Voiceless
Living in the Palmeraie district of Marrakech, Ines. Stephan has rescued and cared for
stray animals Marrakech—many of them abandoned, injured, or at risk of poisoning by local residents for over 15 years now. This month she would like to find a Forever-Home two extraordinary dogs: a six-year-old mother and her one-year-old daughter, both of whom had already suffered abandonment twice before finding safety with her.
“I simply couldn’t let that happen again,” she writes. “They are incredibly kind souls—calm, affectionate, and now under the loving guidance of a trainer. They’ve never been separated, and it would break their hearts to be apart.”
ANIMAL RESCUE IS DAILY
This care is not a passing gesture—it is her daily commitment. With the support of her housekeeper Naima, Miss Stephan currently fosters 43 cats, all spayed, vaccinated, and lovingly tended to. Since 2011, she has personally financed the rescue and medical care of over 400 cats in Marrakech. Today, her crowdfunding campaign is raising awareness and support for over 200 cats that still require spaying and vaccinations, with 60 urgently needing medical attention.
Her work is a powerful example of Morocco animal rescue, showing what’s possible when care, discipline, and purpose come together.
