CULTURAL ACTIVITIES PESCHIERA DEL GARDA

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Peschiera del Garda

Located on the south side of Lake Garda, Peschiera Del Garda is only a small town but one that’s full of character and beauty. Steeped in tradition, Peschiera Del Garda offers several picturesque locations and this is just one of the reasons why it’s considered a prime location for yoga retreats.

When all the stresses of life become too strong, one of the best ways to relax and ground oneself again is through yoga. As good as yoga can be, it’s always a challenge to escape from the responsibilities we have in life. Therefore, with Peschiera Del Garda yoga, there’s an opportunity to visit a stunning area of Italy while also benefitting from everything yoga has to offer.

However, what does this quaint area have to offer away from the yoga? Since you won’t be practicing yoga for the full duration of your stay, we’ve decided to list some activities into which you can delve to really immerse yourself into the local culture!

Citta Murata di Peschiera Del Garda
Going all the way back to the Roman era, Peschiera was fortified by not only Italy but also Austria, Scaligeri, and Venice. At the time, some of the most famous architects designed the walls of the town and there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy a similar culture with bars, artisan shops, and restaurants within the pentagon fortress of the city center. With a short walk along the walls, your reward will be a stunningly memorable view across Lake Garda.

Earth, Water, Fire Tour
Peschiera del Garda is full of history, and in particular a history of battles. Although a town settled between water and land, there’s an extensive history of fire (hence the name of this brilliant tour!). Not only will you discover the stunning landscapes around the town, you’ll learn all about the conflicts and experience a powerful defensive system from the Middle Ages.

Garda Landing Agency
Why discover this beautiful town alone when you can get help from professionals? With this agency in particular, they offer plenty of audio guides, events, and even a gondola service. If you want to get some light exercise while investigating everything the town has to offer, you can even rent a bicycle.

Santuario della Madonna del Frassino
Even if you aren't religious, you’ll still be able to appreciate the beauty of this particular church. Home to a Madonna del Frassino statue, which has interesting roots since it seemed to appear from nowhere in the 16th century, the sanctuary is today preserved by Franciscan monks. If you visit, you’ll receive their blessings (as well as learning more about the statue itself!).

Castle of Ponti sul Mincio
Returning to the theme of ‘history’, this castle dates right back to the 12th century and was built strategically to dominate the Mincio. Over the years, it became essential as part of the town’s defensive strategy and later encompassed the Monzambano Castle which has an even older history after being erected in the 11th century. Although partially ruined, the castle has undergone consolidation twice; most recently in the 1970s.

Borghetto di Valeggio
If you’re looking for an all-inclusive Peschiera Del Garda wellness retreat, and you like a bit of exercise, why not consider cycling to Borghetto? With the right package, you’ll be able to visit a medieval village, cycle along the Mincio river, and spend time in the Sigurta Natural Park. As an extension of your Lake Garda yoga retreat, you’ll come across all the flora and fauna Peschiera Del Garda has to offer (as well as landscapes you’ll remember for the rest of your life!).

In truth, we could write all day about the different sights to see including Forte Ardietti, an old military fort, and Bracco Baldo Beach. However, we also want to offer visitors an opportunity to take part in events.

Cultural and Musical Events
Ultimately, there’s plenty to see and do at Lake Garda so we highly recommend looking at a cultural calendar when planning your trip. In May, Lake Garda hosts Words at the Waterside which is an annual festival where writers, journalists, and authors come together to show their work and also discuss historical events.

Alternatively, in September, Verona hosts Tocati (International Festival of Street Games). As the name suggests, this is a festival where everybody comes together to enjoy free exhibitions, concerts, and traditional games. If you’re worried about sticking out as a visitor, it’s an international festival and they invite a country every year to exchange cultures.
With these cultural activities, not only will you enjoy your Peschiera Del Garda yoga retreat but you’ll also have plenty to do in your free time too!
